The ancient writings are considered major component of Egypt’s cultural heritage. The ‘Journey of Writing in Egypt’ is a long-term academic project undertaken by the Writing and Scripts Center, affiliated to Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It aims at exploring, documenting and then preserving the writings in Egypt since the Protodynastic period till the modern age. In addition, the project sheds the light on the importance of ancient writings in documenting the life of foreign communities who lived in Egypt. Finally, the project would help the tourist guides to stress the openness and tolerance of the Egyptian society allover its history towards the foreign communities.
